Thanks again, Jerry. I was thinking of the transition from bright sun to shade rather than really low light, where the tritium would come into its own. That was what bugged me about the red-insert 686. The sight flared excessively in the sun and totally grayed out in the shade - neither was conducive to good shooting.
Or maybe it's just me that's not conducive to good shooting! Stu |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The front sight is actually blaze orange (like a hunting vest). It works great for me, and the front and rear sights have single tritium lamps that line up easily in low light. The sights are available with different front sight colors (white, green, orange, black). |
