Did you notice Jerry has the red ones? He has had a number of red front sights in my experience, the others being fiber optics, some of which I have I've fired on various pistols. This goes to show how you cannot take just my comments on these things, (or any one else's), fellows, as I could not see these sights due to my own vision. Yet Jerry calls these his favorite sights.
Stu, you will have noted that I mentioned to Jerry that his photo makes these sights seem much less florescent than they looked to me in person, eh? ETA: Oh, if I were forced to use these, I'd have the yellow green, as my eyes work much better in that color spectrum. At least I could see the color even if it would drive my eyes nuts with focus. In truth, the yellow-green is much better in general than red at night. Have you guys noticed that more and more fire and EMT departments now use a similar yellow-green color for their vehicles instead of the traditional red...? Hmm? Easier to see for the greatest numbers of people in the dark. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Thanks for the detailed reply, Mark (and what else would I expect? ). Those U-channel sights sounded good to me when we discussed them a while ago and they still do. Like you, I don't like fluorescent colors on my sights. I think - also like you - that a white dot or possible a brass bead would be a better bet. It's worth mulling over as part of the mix as I think about what changes to make to my carry equipment while waiting for my Nevada permit... Stu |
