The front sight is actually blaze orange (like a hunting vest). It works great for me, and the front and rear sights have single tritium lamps that line up easily in low light. The sights are available with different front sight colors (white, green, orange, black).

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Thanks, Jerry.  How does that red front sight work for you in different lighting conditions?  I wasn't happy with the original equipment red front insert on my 4" 686 but maybe a recessed dot won't be as troublesome as an exposed ramp.
