That Walther .22 has a weird safety system, maybe European? A lady brought one to our handgun safety and familiarization class and with a round in the chamber, hammer cocked and safety in the "red" position you pulled the trigger, the hammer fell and the gun did not fire. Flip the safety to the "non-red" position. recock the hammer, pull the trigger and the gun fired. She didn't have the owners manual with her and I suggested she take the gun and manual to the local gunsmith and have him check it and explain to her how the safety was supposed to work or fix the gun if something was wrong with it.
It could be that the safety works the opposite of every other gun or it could be there was something wrong with her particular gun. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Yikes!  I don't know that pistol so I hadn't realized the safety was off!
Is the Safe position higher, like on a 1911, or lower, like some other semi-autos (older S&Ws?)? Stu |
