I'm sorry I didn't have the time in Cali to take the Beretta to the range as I liked much of what I saw in the pistol.
My friend bought it on my suggestion during the Obama post-reelection panic, when his local gun shops had limited choices. IIRC, there were only a couple of choices in 9mm and the Beretta was the obvious one for several reasons, including price. My friend isn't a regular shooter, and his local shops were all over the map with their suggestions, so I called 3 of them, found out what they had and told my friend what I thought would satisfy his needs. (I know, telling someone else what would be appropriate for them isn't always the best thing, but I taught him to shoot years ago, know his capability, and felt pretty safe in my recommendation.) So he bought it and is happy with it. but the Walther P88 or P5 are guns I'll probably never get a chance to fire. You never know what will show up, but both those pistols were limited in sales in the US (except to people named Harvey). All of mine are gone, but maybe if you get down to Georgia, Harvey will let you shoot his P88. Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I would like to try one, perhaps I'll rent one sometime. That, or unless I get a chance to shoot someone else's at the range someday is probably my only chance because my days of experimenting are over. I like 1911s and Smith 3rd Gen autos, and I enjoy revolvers mostly for old time's sake. I have striker-fired pistols almost exclusively for defense, and that's about it. New guns are going to be probably 1911s exclusively, unless I run across something from my past that was of extreme interest to me then and I have the money in my pocket to buy it now. Even then, I've passed up quite a few guns in recent past that I would have killed to buy 30 years ago if I'd only had the money. So--buying a Px4 is extremely unlikely for me. And I can't see my son buying one either. He has his own strong likes and dislikes already, at any age where I was still experimenting greatly, probably because he started so much younger than I did. I could still rent a Px4, or a Turkish Beretta 8000, but the Walther P88 or P5 are guns I'll probably never get a chance to fire. |
