It seems weird, but Glocks are now over forty years old, and there is a collector's organization. There are enough variations to them interested, and it seems that a basic requirement to be a certified Glock collector is that one has a Gen 1 in their stable. Even Glock themselves have offered the "commemorative" P80 that mimics their Gen 1 pistols.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I got lucky with the Gen 1 Glock. It was on sale for $450 at the shop I used to teach for. I grabbed it. For some reason, when this was taken in, they didn't do anything like inform the owner he had a valuable piece. Once I confirmed it was Gen 1, I grabbed it. The next cheapest one I have found is at OGCA where they wanted $700 and I considered it. They retail around here for $1200. Which is absolutely staggering. |
