AT>>So, the main point of the invention and development of the firearm was to not hit something???<<
I'm pretty sure that I've told this story here before but it may bear repeating. Years ago members of our club were out looking for a new range property. I was riding with a fellow who was the club's Chief Instructor. He'd been a WWII Marine, a DC Police Officer, and had done firearms training for the Coast Guard. As Chief Instructor this gentleman would check out new members on the range to make sure that they knew how to utilize the range safely. Since he also valued good marksmanship he'd generally try to teach the new members something to help them become better shooters. He'd found that most weren't real interested in learning... So there we were, riding around and looking at potential range properties. Many properties that might have served our purposes had houses too close and were thus ruled out. With tongue in cheek I suggested that the solution would be to require all members to use suppressors on their firearms. (In order to keep the level of noise down.) The old Marine responded as soon as the words were out of my mouth. In a gruff tone he stated, "That'll never work! They don't really care if they hit anything, but they like to make NOISE!!!"
