Okay, about those already tight groups in pictures. Their purpose isn't to show off the skill of the operator but to show the capability of the firearm to do just that - group tightly. It would serve no useful purpose to move the group to the bull's-eye - a half-inch group stands on its own. I think it's understood by just about everyone that such a group can be easily shifted to any point required. Do you want it dead-on at 100 yards, no problem. Do you want it two inches high at 100 yards to better allow center hold at ranges out to 200 yards? No problem there, either. The point is made - the gun shoots. The rest is obviously up to the shooter.
Why is that so wrong? Stu |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I thought we were talking about already-tight groups in pictures. If you are showing off a tight group and know how to re-zero your gun why not impress your readers by showing them you have more than just half the shooting skills necessary to put the group on target? I'm much more impressed by a group of hits than I am by a group of misses. We're trying to sell gunzines, here, and at least Bob and I are not impressed by misses. Of course I'm arguing from a narrow perspective......but I just can't accept the notion that guns were invented to not hit a target. |
