The SKS is a pretty good rifle as-issued. I've got the short-barreled Chinese version with a military fiberglass stock painted black (BBQ grill paint), Scout Scopes* optic mount with integral emergency open sight, and I've removed the magwell for use with Tapco twenty-round magazines. Still pretty much a straightforward SKS, and easily returned to stock.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Back when I started collecting, I bought a Chinese SKS and built a second based on a Romanian bolt and receiver. I intended to customize the Romanian but found that I didn't like the mods as well as I liked the original rifle. Dave |
