I still like the 4506-1, and have two: my old duty gun, and a minty spare I bought when we carried that gun.
The 4506 was not a tightly fitted gun, but it was reliable and accurate. The drawbacks were the size and weight, but that also made it easy to shoot. The long first pull was revolver-like, smooth, heavy and consistent. I am aware of many bad guys who were clobbered with a 4506, and it did not hurt the gun at all. A very durable gun! |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I find that hilarious that you say "especially Mark Freburg," since I didn't own one of those until the late 90s, and didn't really become a fan until well into the 2000s. At the same time Jerry and Kim both owned and loved S&W Third Generation Smith autos since the early 90s at least, and I owe my interest to them completely. Herb and Harvey G. have perhaps owned more 3G Smiths than I as well. Herb wrote an article here on Third Gen Smiths, for gosh sakes. |
