I believe the Israeli military is quite different from the American military, especially the female contingent. While we clearly have some incredible female warriors, it's not the norm because, as a rule, this country still doesn't raise little girls to become warriors as a universal practice. I believe this was more of a universal practice in Israel--although it may be lessening somewhat. I base this on some small clues I've seen in more recent times, with Israeli women more and more appearing as fashion models and Hollywood actors, something seen less often in decades past. It may mean nothing, I don't know.
Still, in our country, I hear fairly strong opinions, especially from soldiers, current and recently separated, that they don't want females in the infantry, where fighting really takes place. I don't deny that a woman has the guts and courage, for example, to fly a fighter jet as a well as a man, but I understand that this isn't the same as ground combat. And as one who still believes the sexes are different, and for good reason, it seems to me that the infantry being composed of men is not unreasonable, even in this liberated day and age. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: It took me a while to find the rifle...and I'm not trying to be cute. Not much of it showing, and there are er, uh, other things that are easier to see. She is some kinda warrior! Harvey |
