I think you are correct on the 1911A1, Model M is a US Property marked pistol with transfer papers to a Brig. General, so I'd say it's a .32, and the revolver, because of the finish might be a snub Colt Commando. Just my 2 cents, but I'd think these were all the issued property of the Brig. General and he took them home with him when he retired.
