Your tactics start with a demeanor that says “Don’t mess with me!” (that’s the point I was trying to make earlier). You shouldn’t act like a thug but if you act like a victim, that’s what you will be. Predators can smell fear. Then comes situational awareness and being alert to pre-assault clues. After that, avoidance and de-escalation. If you’re confronted by some dirtbag, use a little verbal judo, or just leave quickly. But when that fails and you believe you’ve been confronted by someone who’s going to do you harm, I’m a big advocate of getting in the first strike. Most fights are won in the first few seconds by whoever takes the initiative and makes the first decisive move. Once you fall behind the power curve, you have almost no chance of getting back on top. This is especially true of older people that are out of shape and don’t have to stamina for a boxing match. Remember, your goal is to discourage your opponent and disengage quickly. On the original subject of soccer moms- Most people walk around in condition White and are unprepared and incapable of dealing with a real threat, not just soccer moms. |
