>>I know the gun shoots well for you HGW, but you're an exceptional shot, and you can make anything shoot very well indeed.<<<
Many thanks (blush ) But lets say that I can (usually) shoot any gun to the best of it's and it's ammunition's ability >>>But lots of guns shoot well.<<< And lots do not shoot well. Years ago, I had a 1911 in 38 Super and another in 45ACP. No matter how hard I tried with different reloads, I couldn't get the 38 Super to do better then 5 inch groups at 50 feet. The 45 (not a G-Cup)was able to do 2 inches with the same brand of Sierra JHP bullets. In my photos, there's a pic of a 25 yard group that the P-88 shot. A somewhat exceptional group, but it seldom shoots over 2 inches at that distance with decent loads. I realize that many of my rifles and pistols are excellent target guns, but I also make allowances for the type of gun that I have, like my Mannlichers, the best (.244Rem) shoots 1 1/2 MOA groups and S&W carry guns, 3 1/2-4 inches at 25 yards. All acceptable for what they are, and what most consider accurate >>>That P88 is an ugly gun. The P5 isn't much prettier. What is it with you two Harveys and your fascination with Teutonic homeliness? Blech!<< Well, as brother Harvey sez, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Being ambidextrous, it has control levers on both sides of the frame. Other then that, it has the fine lines (IMO) of a Browning HP, and the fit of slide to frame is tighter then most target pistols...not the best idea for a duty pistol (like the Luger). HGW |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Since discussing the Walthers is always just a Harveyfest around here, with no one else EVER bothering to say anything about anything--besides me offering info on stocks, I mean--may I offer an opinion on the Walther P88, etc? Thank-you, you Harveys are both very kind. I know the gun shoots well for you HGW, but you're an exceptional shot, and you can make anything shoot very well indeed. But lots of guns shoot well. That P88 is an ugly gun. The P5 isn't much prettier. What is it with you two Harveys and your fascination with Teutonic homeliness? Blech! |
