I had a Viking for a while. I bought it on line from Randy Bessler. I was really excited about Seecamp conversions at the time, and was looking forward to another iteration of that system. What a disappointment -- when I racked the slide the first time, the hammer followed the slide when it went into battery. Thankfully, I was just dry firing it. I ended up sending it to my favorite gunsmith who fixed that problem, but the pistol was never very accurate, and the trigger pull couldn't be improved, so I sold it to a Seecamp collector, along with another Seecamp conversion (Colt Commander in .38 Super), and that ended my Seecamp collecting. Image below from Mark Freburg - Image Title: photos Image Info: The ODI Viking was an early 1911-based double action .45 auto, which was a commercial take-off of the aftermarket Seecamp Conversion. At the time the stainless stleel construction was also radical for a semi-auto. This photo is from a magazine review circa 1983. MSRP at the time was $579. |
