For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I haven't followed bullseye shooting since I quit doing it years ago so I don't know what's happening in official circles. The trainer who runs our Thursday night skill shoot teaches that it helps accuracy (especially weak-hand accuracy) to cant the gun about 15 degrees because it is a more naturally relaxed position that helps the bones and joints in your arm and hand provide more strength and steadiness without feeling "forced". I can feel the difference but I have to consciously think about it to do it because my mental default is to hold the gun vertically. We usually shoot at target distances from 10-40 feet and that close we don't see much difference in POI between vertical and slightly angled shooting with any kind of sights. By the way, this Thursday night everyone is supposed to bring flashlights, weapon lights and lasers and we're going to work on shooting in low light... Great stuff! |
