For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Hi Mark, The reason I said it is probably not good for carry is you lose your rear iron sight. So no backup to the Red Dot. Some like to co-witness the iron sights with the Red Dot. On my Vortex Red Dot the rear of the sight has two vertical lines that could be used in an emergence with the front iron sight. It would take a little experimenting to sort it all out but doable. I have my Red Dot mounted on a 1913 Picatinney Rail that came with my Victory 22. The Picatinney rail also adds height to the sight. I will eventually change it to a regular mounting plate that mounts directly to the top of the gun. Red Dot sights are very popular for Tactical Competition, Boling Pin, Practical Tactical and Steel Challenge. Frank |
