Marines had dropped the Carbine from issue and use before I enlisted, so I never got to shoot one, even in Boot Camp. I can only imagine the condition of those post-Korean War Carbines. The few USGI M1 Carbines that my friend converted to M2 configuration were very solid builds, and were reliable. Harvey

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I ended up on the firing line for support. some guns just came apart and dropped parts everwhere. magazines fell out. the bolts wouldn't close. and a dozen other things. was a a pain ' I took a m-1 rifle for my weapon
