For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: There was an interesting article in Firearms News about the Remington M8 recently. John Browning couldn't sell it to Winchester, so he went to Remington and sold it to them. Later, FN produced it in Europe, and the French used some of them in their airplanes. The rifle was also used in the Bonnie and Clyde ambush by one of the lawmen. And, a gunsmith warned me that when you pulled the trigger it was a lot like holding a hay baler against your shoulder what with all the mechanical parts that had to function before the gun would shoot again. Uncharacteristically complex, IMO, for a Browning design. Harvey |
