Correct, I think he drove up from Pendelton, was an avid cross country guy.  They think he got caught in an avalanche but I doubt we will ever know, if they haven't found him by now he'll never be found unless some hiker stumbles across his remains.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I haven't followed the story. IIRC, he was not at Mountain Warfare site, but doing things on his own? Harvey
