Two shooting buddies own the Jerry Miculek Performance Center version of this pistol with those colored grips. Both revolvers are tack drivers and both are easy and comfortable to shoot.
I though about buying one a few years back but the only use I could come up with for it was to shoot ammo that won't cycle in my semi-auto pistols. Since I don't load any that doesn't cycle, it wouldn't get shot much... The owners of these guns both load powder puff rounds for them that make me think of the .38 S&W - you can practically watch the bullets fly to the target. I wouldn't want to change-up my die settings to do this, and the moon clips look like they add a bunch of fussiness to the shooting that doesn't get in the way when you're shooting someone else's gun and already moon-clipped ammo... I'd consider one if I saw one for sale cheap, but that never happens. And, it would mean getting the loading block and tools for the moon clips, and extra moon clips, and... Eh, never mind. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: What do you think of this Performance Center Model 625? I actually like this quite a bit. The only thing I'm not fond of is visual--the lightened lug for the ejector rod, but I understand the purpose. The stocks might be a little cheesy looking to some, but I find them, well, patriotic, and I suspect they would be comfortable. I like the brass bead front sight. I'm watching one of these on Gun Broker right now, They are being sold as non-auction items, with a fixed price of $1050, not much below MSRP, but these are quite desirable, and the retailer only has three. I wonder if I'd really enjoy shooting one of these? It would be an ICORE shooter's dream. |
