For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I have a 38 Super barrel on my wishlist at Numrich. $300+! It would be a nice addition. I picked up my BDA from an estate sale. The estate was that of a S&W dealer!! I picked up five brand new, in the box, revolvers, all for less than beat up samples of the same, at the local gun shows. I went back on the second day, to pick up one that I won on a silent bid (Model 25-2 1955 Target) when I noticed some odd ball stuff still there. S&W branded knives and some martial arts “stuff”. And, three pistol boxes...all a little tattered and worn around the edges. It was told to all of us on the first day, that everything had to sell and be gone by the end of the last day. Those three boxes had brand new BDAs in them. They had the book and lanyard clip/loop too. The prices ranged from $475 to $625...highest prices on any of the non S&W guns. Well, there was a ‘70 vintage Colt Government model in 38 Super that ran a bit more...wink, wink. I missed out on several other revolvers...due to my ignorance. The price variance was a bit strange, as they all appeared to be identical (turns out, they were). The guy selling on that day, said that they had different trigger systems, thus the price differences. I asked what he needed for them? He said make an offer. I said I didn’t want to insult him...he said try. How about $200? I asked. He said $300...SOLD! One, anyway. The one with the $625 tag on it. I didn’t know what they were, what to expect. So I paid and left with both guns. Then I looked them up online and found out what I had left behind. I called right back and was told that the other two sold ($300 each!) right after I left. Seems another guy, waiting in the dark corners of the store, was waiting for his shot at them. And he took it right after I left. He must have known what I didn’t...they are some of the greatest handguns ever, sitting right there for the taking...a steal of a deal! |
