Those single-edge razor blades can be very handy and I can't remember the last time I actually saw a razor that used them. Double-edge blades, sure, but single-edge replaceable blades for shaving went out about the time they introduced throw-away plastic razors, I think. If it wasn't for use in paint scrapers, I think the single-edge blades would be totally gone.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: You're right, I use a brand new razor blade. I buy the cheap ones sold in the tool department for using in razor tools--not for the pen-shaped exacto knives but the flat scraper-type tools that use a standard shaving-shaped blade. You can still buy those in the tool section in bulk boxes for cheap. For whatever reason I don't know that those old-fashioned type blades are even sold in the actual shaving sections of stores anymore and if they are they probably cost a small fortune, another absurdity. (Probably why I essentially gave up shaving--it's too expensive and I always preferred blade shaving.) But they still make tool supply razor blades. |
