It's common on the aftermarket as well with refinishers offering colored firearms of all types. Professional shooters sport colored firearms! This shooter pictured has been known to shoot a bright purple Glock in competition:

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I think brightly colored firearms of all kinds are a stupid idea for that very reason. One could say they are dead ringers for inert dummy polymer guns used for training. I've thought this since Charter Arms, Kimber and other companies began turning out working color-of-the-day firearms.
