You apparently didn't like my message. Let me just say that all my messages of this nature should of course be taken as MY OPINION. As should everyone's. As a debate is clearly not called for--we don't do flame wars here, I'll let me comments stand, and I'll let yours stand, and I'll let observers draw their own opinions. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Hi Mark, First, Barricade and Rust Prevent are not meant as lubricants, so using the right product is important. Well dumb me, since both products state they are Lubricants on the can, I assumed they were a lubricant. A jack of all trades...and master of NONE. I realize I'm going off on a rant here, but the best maintance products are those with a single use function--solvents for cleaning, lubricants for lubing, and rust preventatives for preventing rust. You forgot to add "In my opinion". It might be true that a single product may be best but the discussion was about three products that lubricates and inhibits corrosion. One Shot is best at these functions according to the test. I've been using Birchwood-Casey's Sheath/Barricade, along with Shooter's Choice's Rust Prevent, for a few decades now, and have never had my guns rust because of a low score in a salt spray test. I am glad you have had good results with your products. However, just because you use them doesn't mean there is not a better product available. After a few decades don't you think that maybe science has came up with a better product? For what it's worth, I wouldn't use WD-40 on a gun I was selling the next day. Evaporates too fast. No long term value. I wouldn't use WD-40 either. I would use "WD-40 Specialist" a Long Term Corrosion Inhibitor that was used in the test. Frank |
