Back in 1960 when I was stationed at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, TX they would check 97 "trench guns" out to us on weekends to clear out the jackrabbits in an effort to keep them off of the runways. We would load them up with BB and often fill a pick-up with jackrabbits, you could hold the trigger back and they would fire as fast as you could pump them. We did this for months until one Saturday when we went to evening chow and they were serving fried RABBIT, there was no way in hell the mess cooks could convince us that it wasn't the jackrabbits we shot that morning!
