There are booklets with Colt serial numbers for collectors--would be cheaper than paying for a factory letter.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I still think it's an early "Trooper" model with a Python barrel unit (barrel, rib and under lug) attached.  Why somebody would go to that trouble is beyond me?  I would INSIST on a "factory letter" authenticating it's province.
