I'm glad that Mark stepped in as I have never owned or even fired an Enfield of any kind. I spotted this one in my favorite gun shop in Helena, MT, and was impressed by its fit and finish including the typical butter-smooth action.
I remember my uncle coming down from the backwoods of central Wisconsin one Christmas back in the '50s. We lived in northern Illinois just about 30 miles north of Chicago. My uncle usually had a low-ball purchase of some kind in mind when he came to visit, like a $5 outboard motor or something. He and my dad would pore over the newspapers and dig through the phone book looking for leads. This time he was looking for a cheap deer rifle and they found a hardware store in nearby Waukegan with trash cans full of surplus Enfield jungle carbines standing on end, your choice for $25. They rooted through the cans, picking out the one that looked the best, and he killed deer with it for the rest of his hunting life. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I understand they always had a problem holding zero, was it corrected?
