Well, that's the distinction I was making - maybe not very clearly. Biscuits and Gravy, the Southern breakfast, is a white sausage gravy spooned over light fluffy biscuits. SOS, in its current version, is seasoned ground hamburger in a light white sauce over toast.
They are really two different meals. I don't recall ever getting biscuits and gravy in my short military career but I got SOS frequently. Stu |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I don't recall seeing any biscuits at breakfast, it was always a slice of toast (the shingle). I remember coarsely ground meat with more spiciness than hamburger, but it could have been well seasoned hamburger... Since the USAF I have really enjoyed biscuits and gravy for a restaurant breakfast. It was a staple in Texas and also popular in Montana and here in Washington. It's usually biscuits that taste homemade covered with a white sausage gravy. |
