Of course USMC also has a motto (Semper Fidelis), but it isn't necessarily a challenge. USMC General James Mattis coined a phrase for Marines in Afghanistan that was a bit more challenging -- "No better friend, no worse enemy."

Let's face it, the US military's function, IMO, is to be deter war through strength, if possible, and to pursue and win war, if necessary. YMMV.
