A lot of people have died from being shot with a .22.  That said I wouldn't even carry a .380, and lots of European cops did.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Our departed and much missed friend Mike Davies used to say "the Colt Peacemaker won the West, but the Webley won the Rest". While not as attractive, perhaps, the Webleys, Nagants, etc. were heavily involved in winning wars over many decades. I also think their cartridges are weak/substandard to boot! How much power does a cartridge need to be fatal? Harvey
