For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Can you comment on general accuracy (100yard groups) with the M14? Firing military ball ammunition, an M14 was probably, at best, capable of 1-2 MOA at 100 yards from a machine rest. I've heard of sub-MOA results as not being out of the ordinary, but as you know there are many variables that go into the results. Suffice it to say the M14 was/is an accurate battle rifle even at longer distances, some being used as DMRs or even sniper rifles (M21/M25). For a military rifle, it had very good sights and a good trigger. It tended to be muzzle heavy until you put a loaded 20-rd magazine in it. (That might have been partially because of the long flash hider?) As I said in another message, the M14 was kind of a casualty of the Vietnam War. Harvey |
