When I first started shooting my Bergara, I took six different ammos to try to find one that would group well. I was shooting five round groups with each type of ammo. Another shooter, who apparently been watching me, came over and ask me how things were going. I explained the trouble I was having finding a brand that grouped well. He explained that I should fire 10 rounds to season the boar before shooting a group. That is standard procedure now.
I appreciate when people pass along information that helps. I have learned a lot here and talking with other shooters. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: You may already know this. Different bullet lubes don’t interact well with each other. When changing ammo, don’t just shoot 1 or 2 groups and think “This new brand sucks in my gun.” Shoot about 10 rounds to season the bore to the new ammo and then shoot a few groups. If your first groups are good...great. But if they aren’t, don’t let that discourage you. Your ammo has to settle in to your rifle. You may already know this, I just mention it because it’s something I learned the hard way. |
