Thanks mark. from my research it does appear the g30 has reliability problems, although not all seem to experience the same problems. It doesnt appear restricted to a certain generation of guns either; although the couple folks I know locally that have them, have no complaints. My local gun shop says they havent had any complaints, but who knows. They will stand by their products and replace anything that isnt reliable, however, that is a moot issue at this point as they cannot get any glocks with any regularity at this point.
I have sent huntington an email, ill keep everyone advised. I recieved the below response from Huntington about 5 minutes after my email: "Never heard of any problems with it. Use good ammo, lube it correctly, shoot it with a firm firing platform, should have no problems. There is a new 30S, you might look into it." Roy H. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I don't know if I ever mentioned this specifically, but I had reliability problems with my Glock 36 also. Not major, but reliability problems are problems. In a defense gun there is no such thing as minor or major reliability problems. That can be applied to competition or fun guns, though I tend to be 100% intolerant of unreliability, and eventually dump anything that won't shoot. That said, I believe Dale has had good reliability with his G36--I don't recall if you two talked? And Massad Ayoob has written about the G30 many many times as a carry gun. I don't know how he's managed to like it if he hasn't figured out how to make them reliable. I know that if you email Roy Huntington, he can pass on any questions to Ayoob. He can be reached here if you want to try. |
