Ha! You caught Roy at the computer. I told you he is good at replying. I have to say, I would have said the same thing if someone I didn't know emailed me, but because I have heard of some problems I would be sure you knew about it. It may well be isolated.
Glocks are susceptible to any tendency to limp wrist, so the firm platform is critical. Jerry might--I said MIGHT, Jerry! ...have had problems because he likes to use Blazer, which, GREAT ammo that it is, might have not gotten along with one particular G30. you've been around guns long enough to know this but some of our lurkers might like knowing that it's just a fact the there are, and probably always will be, some examples of a certain gun that do not work well some examples of a certain ammunition. And it could be so isolated that another example of the same make and model will shoot another batch of the same ammo fine--or even the same lot! I think the scientific reasoning behind this is that it's a combination of magic and voodoo curses. I tell you my next wheelgun is going to be a Ruger Redhawk 4" .44 Magnum. That is the gun I should have gotten instead of that miserable Smith & Wesson I bought some years ago. (Just being silly, it was a fine gun but we didn't bond, for reasons that were mainly my fault.) I would consider .45 Colt if it didn't cost nearly a dollar a round. I could just handload it exclusively as there are some good factory loads from the Buffalo Bore and I think Doubletap, but still. I've never owned a .45 Colt and I plead the Unruh Rationale, your honor...I don't wanna add another caliber. I'm already set up for .44 Magnum and even .44 Special. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Thanks mark. from my research it does appear the g30 has reliability problems, although not all seem to experience the same problems. It doesnt appear restricted to a certain generation of guns either; although the couple folks I know locally that have them, have no complaints. My local gun shop says they havent had any complaints, but who knows. They will stand by their products and replace anything that isnt reliable, however, that is a moot issue at this point as they cannot get any glocks with any regularity at this point. I have sent huntington an email, ill keep everyone advised. I recieved the below response from Huntington about 5 minutes after my email: "Never heard of any problems with it. Use good ammo, lube it correctly, shoot it with a firm firing platform, should have no problems. There is a new 30S, you might look into it." Roy H. |
