In your link I found it interesting that all would be naval aviators are trained in basic flight school and then later in one of five specialties or pipelines. I had always thought that helicopters would be entirely separate, as I believe it at least used to be in the Army (separate from fixed wing). Any ideas on whether helo pilots have always become fixed wing pilots first in the navy? | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I believe that the maximum height for a Navy pilot around 1970 was 6' 3". One reason that I remember that is that I was about 6' 2 ½ so I barely fit the requirement (so to speak.) I did a bit of searching online and it looks like some things may have changed a bit. Check this out. |
