I was still young and stupid (as opposed to my current older and stupid) when you made the move to the S&W Third Generation auto pistols, and I didn't follow you. You remember of course how in the 80s/early 90s I was all "Cocked and Locked!" and you were all "TDA!" Turns out we were both right and both wrong; we had not figured out "different strokes for different folks yet," nor had we really heard of Glock. But by the time I moved here and got to know Jerry, also a 3G S&W fan, I finally succumbed. I have an admittedly odd collection of Smith autos, but there are four of them in my safe. Guys, here are a couple of interesting articles from the forum's Features Section on Smith & Wesson Third Generation Autos: Why I Love Smith & Wessons by Jerry Webb The Semi-Modern Smith & Wesson Semi-Automatic Pistol by Herb Schlossberg |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: S&W 3 gen pistols are a solid choice. Since they’re not as popular today, they can be bought used at very reasonable prices. It’s something I recommend to people on a tight budget. |
