I always used the tool but I understand what you mean. The moon clips are great for a self-defense revolver but I also disliked them for range use. But as a reloader the Auto Rim cases didn't bother me. I remember you mentioning the plastic clips but I've not seen them to this day.
You know what's amusing to me? Clip-loading is very popular with revolver competitors, and S&W even sells a .357 already set up for clip loading these days. I believe Jerry Miculek started the popularity of that. But I suppose competitors will endure various annoyances for an edge that helps them win. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: If I still had the 625 I believe I'd shoot Auto rim exclusively As much as I liked the 625 I hated using the miserable clips. Tore my fingers off getting the cases out of them. I did get a tool that made it easier, but I still hated it. I bought 100 AR cases, but I liked the idea of using pistol cartridges in the revolver. I finally got some plastic clips and found they worked well. I don't think they're reliable enough to use in dangerous situations, but I liked using them for plinking and targets. |
