The Swedes used a muzzle brake on an 8mm Mauer rifle that was issued t machine gun crews to calm it own. It used machine gun ammo and was rather lively by all accounts. I think it's a rather silly featre on a rifle that uses 6.5x55.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Like the muzzle brakes also sold for the threaded Swedish muzzles, they were thunk up by some US entrepreneur.
