Thanks for the response, Bob! As I noted, I was completely unaware of such a program - it's terrific! I'm wondering if there are other similar programs around the country. Here in Las Vegas, we have a strong Jewish community, too (although it seems more evenly distributed around the area than our older midwest city ethnic neighborhood experience would predict) and we have a climate more like Israel's - for better or worse!
I know this is a time of relative calm in Israel (stress on relative). Is the program currently active? Hope to hear more from you on gun topics, too. Stu |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Still. West Hartford Ct, a community with a wide base of Jewish heritage, welcomed young Israeli fighters to live with families far and outside the war zone. A renewed sense of family and community of like minded individuals re grounded them. Young men of 17 years of age that stayed with our friends and our families became members of our households. These impressionable young people had people to discuss and assuage their experiences and fears, hence, They seemed to become re-acclimated back into Israeli society much more quickly after their shocking and terrifying service experiences. this was a great PTAs program with no medical involvement whatsoever. Many paratroopers stayed within the community. |
