Hi Allan,
You are absolutely correct. These stocks have a lot of drop at heel and the high scope mount makes it hard to aim with the scope. I wonder if they just used the scope to check out game and then shot with the iron sights. The best solution is a strap on cheek piece that would raise the comb. The stocks on these guns were designed for iron sights and adding a scope just doesn't work. Frank |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Wow! What a beautiful rifle... and in one of my favorite calibers, too. I have yet to figure out how to shoot a rifle with a scope mounted that high. Those European quick-detachable mounts are often designed so you can see the iron sights under the scope but that puts the scope so high I have to lift my head off the stock to look through it. Is there a common technique to overcome that? |
