For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I wouldn't choose the white inlay, stock carving, white spacer, etc., for a personal rifle that I built (as you can) or order custom. But I'm looking at that Mannlicher as a product of the 60s with both a European influence and the California influence that was in vogue at the time. So it appeals to me as an historical artifact. My opinion probably stems from my interest in historical rifles--I'd never design several of the rifles I own the way they are, but that's how they came about at that point in history. Pertinent example here, as much as the Mannlicher's butter knife bolt handle feels good in my hand, I question how good it would really be in the field. |
