It IS great to specialize, and further, we all need to find our niche! In the old days I wanted every variant of everything. Well THAT got to be a bit much!
Today I have, mostly samples of one, with two Finnish Mosins, three Swede Mausers (one actually made BY Mauser) and a neat if excessive collection of .303 Britsh rifles, whch all tie together: Pattern 14, Canadian No.4, US No. 4, commercially shortened British No.4. And then too, my US M1917 Enfield is the offshoot of the Pattern 14. Fun stuff. I probably need () a milspec British No.4. Everything else is a sample of one. Well, two Argentine Mausers but one is a 91, the other a 98-pattern 1909.... |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I don't think I mentioned that I bought mine from Ohio Ordnance Works, who is also a manufacturer as well as a seller. You may know them from their semi-auto version of the M1918 BAR as well as a truly updated for the 21st Century version of the BAR. (Although those are a topic for another thread.) OOW belong to OGCA and set up every show. They always have some wonderful firearms for sale. They definitely have some neat stuff. It took me a second to realize you were replying to a post from 2018! SOMEONE used the search function. OOW is a fascinating company and I am glad to see that they are keeping the designs alive. I really enjoy shooting my MAS36 and recently bought another 100 rounds of Prvi Partizan because I want to have enough brass for it to last. Hell why not? PRVI is a great source for brass and it's not like you won't shoot the rifle. Do you still have your MAS36? No. The only milsurp rifesl I have nowadays are SKS rifles, Swiss Rifles and Mosin Nagants. |
