Why don't I remember seeing this? We surely discussed this ten years ago, but this rifle was almost definitely NOT refinished, but rather a post-war rifle built by the French in the early 1950s when it had already been surpassed as a first line rifle, but was still being built due to demand for rifles, primarily in Vietnam. Many ended up never being issued, remained new-in-the-wrap, and were imported to the US in just that condition, in the early 1990s. This rifle looks like it's been refurbished as the wood and the metal are in great shape! I think the stock is Beech, and all the metal has been re-parkerized. |
