Your welcome. I copied the text from the NRA Museum's article on the Velo Dog.
It was originally a French or Belgian design that kind of took on a new name and I am thinking that the nomenclature of: "Velo Dog" became the general name of the small caliber, portable firearms. I think you are correct. That would be generally frowned upon as a whole. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Article so nice, he posted it twice! Thanks, TJ. I've always been curious about the Velo-Dog but never did any research on it. You've supplied some new tidbits for me. I believe it was originally a French design. I didn't follow one part of your article; was the Velo-Dog made by many different makers or was that just a general statement about the various small-caliber pocket guns of the time? Today, shooting a dog that chased you on your bike would be greatly frowned upon but those were simpler times... Stu |
