You raise good points with the Ruby. It was a stopgap gun that France was all too happy to purchase from Spain. I think it was in the neighborhood of 1 million or so being produced.
I've seen one of the Savage 1907 Trial guns at the NRA museum. BIG Art Deco gun. IMHO the Savage 1907 and 1917 in .32ACP are neat guns. First double stack American made gun that really remained alone until 1935's Hi-Power and even then that and the Hi-Power are the only double stack magazine guns that I am aware of until possibly the 1970s? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: We saw a Savage .45ACP from the US military trials at the last OGCA. Mind blown. I'm a bit down on Rubys only because it doesn't represent one gun, not even one brand or one model. It was a catch-all to represent many guns that came out of Eibar in the very early days and made it not only to France but other European countries as well. And many of them were crap. I would do some serious studying of the history of the "Ruby pistol," and I mean more than a couple Internet articles, before I spent ANY money on a Ruby. My opinion, please feel free to disregard it and it won't hurt my feelings. |
