No, I bought this several years ago but rarely discuss it because I stuck it in the back of my safe and never shot it. I had lapsed into a "bored with .22s" status. Some time back, a couple years ago, I thought I should get it out and clean it up for a range trip. It was covered in grease as any imported firearms is likely to be if it doesn't have a larger US based subsidiery where degreasing and prepping can be done--I'm talking about shipping grease to keep guns from rusting during boat trips across the ocean, that kind of grease. I see it in both Asian and European imports, although it may be more common from Asian manufacturers.
Anyway... I decided to degrease it so I took it down. These are not fully 1911s--no one's 1911 .22 is, although after researching them all, GSG's comes the closest, and the frame will take many 1911 aftermarket parts. But I got sidetracked with something else on my bench, and the pistol got put up in one of my bench bin for many months. At some point I had maybe three pistols apart in bench bins while I was working on other projects. (As an aside, this was less common when I had two big benches and a large center space in my shop in which to work but my son took over one of my benches, covered it with crap, and until recently had spread onto the center area until I threatened to toss his detritus out. So I now have a smaller shop area. ) Bottom line to this blabathon, I did eventually get back to the pistol, degreased it, cleaned it, properly lubed it, and put it back together, including removing that magazine disconnect. Simply put it back in the safe, however. It seems that range trips must be choreographed as to themes these days, with types of guns and such, at least with my son, and I do 80%+ of my shooting with him. We have so many projects it seems we are always planning special types of shooting and which ranges to use, we can't just grab any old gun and go shoot it. Sounds ridiculous doesn't it. By the way that isn't my photo but was found on the web. I posted it years ago and have simply never taken a photo of my own pistol. Mine is identical though, except I have changed to custom stock panels. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Is that a recent purchase? I don't recall you mentioning it, so what's the story? (Nice looking pistol, BTW.) Harvey |
