I've always wondered why the military continued to use this mount. Is it better than I've always believed it was....?
I don't know. Could be inertia, could be that the military had hundreds or thousands in stock, or simply because no one came up with a better solution at a reasonable price. Also, IMO, the M25 was not an excellent sniper rifle. It was a better DMR, and the Army and Marines continued using bolt guns which were deemed more accurate and more consistent than the M25. Just my 2 cents. Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I've always questioned the stability of this scope mount. It's held in place at the top rear by slipping into the clip guide in the receiver, which is none too precise or rigid, then had a large thumb screw to hold it on the left side. Many people have been trying to improve this ever since this mount was adopted, some with success. I've always wondered why the military continued to use this mount. Is it better than I've always believed it was....? Image below from Harvey Goldman - Image Title: photos |
