For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Also, note the “checkering” on the front strap. It is an add on Wilson Combat part. They come in stainless and “blued” and run from $10 to $16 depending on where/when you find them. I have them on several 1911s. Why anybody would build a 1911 frame, especially in 45 and up, with a smooth grip front strap, I’ll never understand. The Coonan 1911 style guns come with smooth grip straps...in 357 mag! I love, LOVE, sticky grips on my guns. So when I end up with one of the “bald” frames, this little bit of magic works wonders. There are small folds, that grab the cut out in the frame and they are locked in with grip/stock pressure. |
