Many pistols when altered from their long accepted standard length look odd to our eyes. But you've noted, correctly in my opinion as well, that both six- and seven-inch 1911s not only don't look odd, but look quite handsome. I like the seven inch model and would like one some day, but I actually prefer the six-inch slide. I might go as far as to say I think the full-size Government frame actually looks better with an elongated slide than it does with a truncated slide, as in the 4.25" Commander and the also popular 4" models as made by some companies. Of course this is clearly a blonde, brunette or redhead question. |
